Hi, I’m Stephanie Fielding, a creative, human-centric person who is driven to effect positive social change.
Currently, I am a Junior Policy Analyst with Innovation, Science Economic Development Canada (ISED), in the Digital Design + Digital Transformation Service Sector. Prior to joining the public service, I worked with the Brookfield Institute for Innovation + Entrepreneurship as a Research + Policy Analyst, where I supported projects in the AI + Society, Skills for the Innovation Economy, and Entrepreneurship workstreams. My practice sits at the intersection of technology, social and digital policy, art, and design. I am interested in how information infrastructures and emerging technologies can be used to engage and benefit the public, the balance between innovation and ethical practice, and how creative approaches can be incorporated into policy and the public sector.
Previously, I co-founded and co-directed a contemporary art gallery called 8eleven in Toronto, which received numerous grants and international press; and recently participated in the TRANSITIONS residency at the Milieux Institute. I hold an MI degree in Critical Information Policy Studies and User Experience Design from the University of Toronto, a BFA from OCAD University in Criticism and Curatorial Practice, and a BA in Art History and Psychology from McGill University.
